Where to Begin
The first step in applying to college is to take an actual tour of the campus. Making sure that the school 'feels' right while there is a crucial component of the process. Often times, the schools will set up individual tours with the student and his/her family. It is common that after the tour, the student will be given an application fee waiver.
Most applications are completed online, directly on the college or universities' webpages.

Common Application
When applying to colleges, many are part of the Common Application system in which you only fill out one application and it goes to all of the colleges and universities that you select. To view a list of participating schools, visit https://www.commonapp.org/Login#!PublicPages/AllMembers. To apply through the Common Application, begin by visiting https://www.commonapp.org/Login.
Transcripts
Official high school transcripts will need to be sent in with your application. To request a transcript, be sure to first fill out the authorization form and turn it into the main office. Both the student and a parent/guardian will need to sign. The student can then fill out a transcript request card (can be printed or picked up in the office) and drop it off in the main office for processing.
